A Little Bit of Nature Goes a Long Way

Ahhhh, I just love beautiful things and beautiful places. Who doesn't, though? I have had such a great experience living here in Georgia. I've seen beauty at each place, and of course some close to home. Here are just a few of my latest favorites...

Here's to a promise of a new day...

My First Tag Along Shoot

I was going through my pictures from the past few months as I backed up some other ones and came upon these. I was invited to join my friend, Rachael, in shooting these adorable girls. This was the first time I had ever done anything in the way of really shooting children and trying to accomplish more then a basic snapshot. I think they turned out pretty nice for a first try. Of course, if you'd like to see more, check out Rachael's blog.

Thanks again, Mrs. N. for letting me join y'all.

Shooting Around

Thank you to everyone who has been so encouraging and excited about my pictures. I'm having a ball and I can't wait to get out and shoot some of your kiddos and families. In the meantime, here are some of my newest favorites from a few random practice shoots and such, of course Drew is mainly the subject. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

On the way back from our field and railroad practice shoot, I looked out my car window and had to pull over to capture this shot. I just love sunsets!

Just to show that I don't only take pics of my own child during these things, here's Mr. C. He's just precious, don't you think? And check out those eyes!

More amazing eyes...

Ballet Studio Shoot

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a friend's daughter at her ballet studio. Miss E is such a sweet 8 year old girl who was very cooperative and easy to shoot. This also gave me another opportunity to work on shooting indoors with an external flash.
Mrs. M, thank you for this great experience, I hope you like your sneak peak :o)

First Solo Shoot

Well, I did it! I had my very first solo shoot and in order to make things extra difficult, it was mostly an indoor shoot with a large group! I don't know why I add the extra pressure, but it was fun and a great learning experience.

The S family is obviously very close and wanted to get some group shots around the Christmas tree to capture that. Thank you for allowing me to be the one to capture those memories for you. Here's your sneak peak :o)

Practice Shoot

Shooting children can be really difficult especially when trying to get creative shots. Rachael and I decided to do a practice shoot with our boys to try out some new props and a new location. We had a lot of fun and got some good shots even though the boys made us crazy. Here are a few from our day.

Ok, and the last one for now...

Testing Continued...

So, this is in honor of Marcela since she keeps yelling at me about my pictures being too large. So, I resized this one to 150dpi to quiet her for a moment. Hopefully it will still look as clear as it did at 300dpi.

This is Just a Test...

My fabulous friend, Marcela has been working tirelessly to improve our blogs. This is a test to see if it's all working. The picture below is one from my girls' trip to Charleston this summer. Rachael, Marcela, and I went out to the beach in time to catch the sunrise. This is one of the treats I came home with.

Life is Full of Surprises

I LOVE surprises! Just love them. Recently I was invited to join my friend, Rachael again in doing a couples shoot. The couples shoot was set up by Miss H and shortly after her boyfriend contacted Rachael.

Are you excited yet? I'm still excited and I was there.

Anyway, he told Rachael that he wanted to surprise his girlfriend with a proposal sometime during the shoot and then have a few engagement type pictures. How sweet is that? Seriously, guys take notes.
So, the shoot began as any normal couples shoot would and then Rachael and I led them over to an open field for the rest...

Enjoy the photos and be sure to check out Rachael's blog for more goodies.

Are you ready? Here it comes...Miss H had no idea what was about to happen.

I think the answer is "Yes." What do you think?

This is one of my favorites because just before I took this picture, she said to her fiance, "Are you sure?" So cute!

H & B, here's hoping this is just the beginning of all of life's great surprises. Congratulations and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day.

Tagging Along

One of my best friends is a wonderful photographer and she was gracious enough to let me join her on a family shoot in early November. I love going on these shoots with her because I learn so much and get a chance to practice myself. Thanks also to the P family for allowing me to be there.
Be sure to also check out Rachael's website at www.rachaelmayphotography.com

Below are some pictures from that evening.

New Beginnings

So, I've taken pictures for as long as I can remember, and I've always loved them. I love to capture every moment I can and look back at the photos over and over again. I know many people who keep journals and I've tried my hand at that, but I just can't keep up with it. I also have trouble putting my thoughts and feelings into words, but it's different with photos. With pictures I am able to remember what I was feeling and thinking during each snapshot, which helps me to remember and relive each event.

I seldom leave the house without my camera, especially with my new one! My fabulous husband bought me the Nikon d40 for my birthday in May and I have fallen in love with photos all over again! I have totally gotten sucked in to learning the manual settings and seeing what I come up with. On top of all this, I just started a photography class with my friend, Rachael, who is a fabulous photographer.

I hope to use this blog to share my snapshots and give everyone a little view into my world! :o)
